This project involved purposefully glitching an image using various methods as well as text to create a form of glitch art that conveyed a message. I chose to create art that would talk about something I feel passionate about and that relates to my cultural background, which was illegal immigration. When I did this art piece, the government had just started its massive deportations around the country, this inspired me to chose an image of migrant field workers and overlay with a phrase people use when ignorantly referring to them, “Dangerous Aliens.” The piece, progressively glitches more and more until the text and the image are no longer visible, representing what many wish they could do when hearing harmful stereotypes about migrant workers.
